Freshman Orientation Programme

A message from the FOP Director

Welcome to the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine! The Freshman Orientation Programme (FOP) Directorate is the arm of the NUS Medical Society, which is directly involved in the planning and execution of the School’s orientation programme aimed at inducting our new M1s into the first step of their lifelong journey into medicine.

As of AY23/24, the FOP Directorate oversees two major programmes as part of the annual orientation in YLLSoM, namely Medicamp as well as the Freshman Orientation Collaborative Community Involvement Project (FOCCIP). These two hallmark activities mark the start of medical school for our freshmen, and aim to build lifelong bonds between students to support them in the upcoming journey of theirs.

Join us for an enriching and exciting adventure that awaits you, and we can’t wait to see you here next year!

Medicamp

Medicamp aims to create an exciting line-up of activities where long-lasting bonds can be forged within the freshman batch and with their seniors. At the same time, it introduces freshmen to both academic and non-academic opportunities that awaits them in our school. This is a four-day orientation camp, organised by M2s for the new freshmen of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, where M1s are introduced to their Houses and the support systems that will accompany them throughout their five-year journey in medical school.

FOCCIP

FOCCIP is the very first Community Involvement Project (CIP) that M1s will have the chance to participate in, which aims to inculcate a spirit of service and acts as a stepping stone towards further community service. In combination, we hope to provide an opportunity for freshmen to put crucial attributes of a good doctor such as compassion and empathy into practice.
